Kaira and Ringo

Please let us introduce KAIRA and RINGO, our new resident rescue dogs, who have recently joined JDC family.

KAIRA is a beautiful golden girl, calm and full of eagerness to explore her new surroundings, while RINGO is a sensitive, loving boy and cute as a button . We are excited to watch them thrive during their time with us, as well as in their forever home, where they will undoubtedly touch the hearts of all who meet them.

Kaira and Ringo both come from very loving families in Auckland who had no choice given the circumstances but to try their best to provide a better life for their beautiful pups. It is a big responsibility and an honor to guide their journey and see them blossom in our care and in their forever homes.

They unexpectedly bonded with each other during the trip back from Akl, with Ringo being very concerned about the new environment he found himself in, filled with unfamiliar sounds and scents that made him anxious. Kaira, with her gentle demeanor, took on a maternal role. It’s so heartwarming to see the bond that developed between these guys, total strangers just moments before, now sharing a special connection.

Ringo refused food for the first hours on Monday. This little fellow was really concerned, his instincts telling him to remain cautious in this new setting. We did let them have a sniff around, allowing them to explore their surroundings at their own pace, individually first, then together. They were already tired, and each went to their own comfortable indoor beds prepared in advance, where they finally began to relax, curled up in their blankets as the day turned into night.

Today they had a blast playing together in the yard most of the day, and even got a peak at the K9 JDC staff members: the meeting went well, with all participants being very polite and friendly. Mr. Vok was chilling out in the lounge, Mike was not surprised anymore, and Ted had his manners on. Ruby, as always, was graciously waltzing around.

We truly expected them to be a bit more stressed today, after such a big change in their routine – but they both exceeded our expectations and had a lot of fun throughout the day. After spending quality time together, they enjoyed a BIG healthy meal. As the day came to a close, they settled down and ultimately went to bed for a well-deserved rest, ready to embrace whatever adventures tomorrow might bring.

Kaira is a very calm and collected golden girl, radiating a serene aura that makes everyone around her feel at ease. She is absolutely beautiful, with her golden fur shimmering in the sunlight, and her intelligent eyes reflecting her thoughtful nature. As a dedicated thinker, she often observes her surroundings intently, taking in every detail and enjoying the world at her own pace. She follows us around with a gentle grace, and she is particularly fond of sniffing out new places, exploring every corner with curiosity. Without a doubt, she loves her food, eagerly anticipating mealtime. Kaira is very good with Ringo, with a calm demeanor and good manners with our other resident dogs. She did a great job helping us by engaging a worried Ringo in play, bouncing around joyfully to lift his spirits; her playful antics are contagious, and it’s a joy to watch them.

Ringo is white as a snowflake and soooo cute, with his round questioning eyes and puppy demeanor. He is very expressive, wearing his emotions on his furry face, whether he’s concerned, excited about playtime or contently basking in the sun. His playful nature shines through, and he has a remarkable recall, very eager to engage. When it comes to human interaction, he comes for pets with enthusiasm, reveling in the warmth of human attention, and he is very good with other dogs. Ringo’s social spirit and love for companionship truly make him a delightful little fellow.

It’s important to give them time to relax and decompress, so they can explore, have fun, and truly express themselves in this new setting. We can’t wait to capture more moments that showcase their personalities on their new adventures.
