JDC Rescue Public Statement

As a Rescue dedicated to pound dogs and genuine emergencies, and we strongly oppose the use of fake “OUT OF TIME” scenarios and fabricated stories in the rescue sector to manipulate public sympathy for foster network growth. Several of these stories have been published lately on Bay of Plenty local pages – and nationwide. We have stepped in to assist countless dogs claimed to be “out of time,” only to find it was false advertising.

It’s disappointing that some local government agencies in charge of dog management allow photos of their facilities and the dogs under their care to be used in fake stories that mislead the public.

We believe every dog is a wonderful companion, defined by their love and loyalty, not their past. Using fabricated horror stories and fake “time traps” to grow a fostering network is an unethical practice in the Rescue Sector that we firmly oppose.

Note following a request for clarifications:

JDC has been under intense public pressure to save a number of healthy puppies posted online in multiple groups, falsely labeled as an emergency, supposedly in a pound and “out of time” effective immediately. This sadly pulled us away from a genuine emergency as we rushed to the council premises to resolve the issue, only to find it was a fabricated crisis aimed at recruiting fosters. The same puppies have been advertised repeatedly in recent weeks, each time claiming to be “out of time.”

The well-being of every dog is at the core of our mission. However, due to the deceptive practices of certain organizations, we will no longer address public requests concerning dogs posted by other rescues or fosters. We value your understanding and ongoing support.
