Today, on the way to Whakatane from Murupara area, three remarkable young people made a lifesaving difference by rescuing two dogs dumped in the bush – one of the dogs being injured. It looks like the poor pups have been fending for themselves for quite some time. Biggie, tan brindle, is in dire need of care with her severely emaciated state and a probable leg/hip dislocation, compounded by weakness in his other hind leg. Shadow (blue pup), a mere 6-month-old blue puppy, has scars around her neck hinting at a past marked by confinement: chained dog. Despite their hardships, both dogs are very sweet and friendly, and they were desperately hungry.
They will both have a vet appointment asap, especially poor Biggie, and we will find out what is the extent of damage after Xray. Photo: the young lady who is one of these dogs heroes, and the two pups.
