Outbreak Update: Day 13

Four parvo survivors pups have solid poops, eating, drinking and being their mischievous selves. They are ready to return to their original puppy garden and their little houses.

The area was thoroughly disinfected multiple times, though the ground won’t be safe for other puppies in the future. Since these pups have already overcome parvo, they can enjoy it safely. There’s a concern about the proximity to the JDC team area, but screens will be placed along the fence.

Three puppies didn’t develop symptoms and two are doing well but still having loose stools.

No change regarding Phatties, Buddy and R2, nor JDC K9 staff.

One of the JDC cars has been thoroughly decontaminated with Sterigene 10:100 and will transport Biggie to suture removals today (sorry for delays, Biggie!).

We will also pick up the sterile sample container for viral testing at Massey (organized and paid by Merck). Given the atypical symptoms and transmission, as well as the lack of response to vaccine we work with Bay Vets and Merck to ensure that this is not a notifiable event, and the vaccine batch is not impacted.
