Let us introduce Arabella – “our little nurse”.

Arabella is a mastiff x girl, born without a paw, which doesn’t slow her down – but that is not her defining feature. What’s truly special about Arabella is her incredible empathy—we’ve never seen anything like it in such a young puppy!

Arabella is one of the puppies that went through the parvo outbreak in early January. She never had severe symptoms, bounced back quickly, and every morning would join us around the isolation room to check in and gently comfort any puppies still recovering or feeling weak or upset, with her big eyes full of love and concern. She made the lockdown more bearable not just for her own litter, but for all nine puppies who went through isolation—and for us, she offered a humble lesson in love and care from a puppy who was herself recovering.

Arabella and her sisters have been born from parents who have been dumped and roaming the bush for a long time. At the time the parents were found, Arabella’s mom was heavily pregnant with them. Both parents have been adopted.

Arabella will be due to restart her vaccination schedule mid March. In the meantime, she is fully recovered from parvo, non-contagious (over 4 weeks since recovery) and free to go out and about and explore, as she has already lifetime parvo immunity.

Arabella is a truly special soul who deserves someone equally compassionate and kind, just like her. If you think you are that person, please fill and Inquiry for Arabella at https://jdcrescue.com/adoption-inquiry/ and book a time to meet her 🙂 We are located in Whakatane rural, and we adopt nationwide, provided that the owner can travel.
