Jack Dog Center (Trading name: JDC Rescue) is a NZBC organization and Registered Charity for dog rescue.
We are certified trainers and dedicated animal caregivers, providing shelter, comprehensive care and training ourselves, using our own premises and facilities. We don’t use a foster network. We do not employ any staff, receive salaries, or obtain any other forms of compensation for our rescue activities. We do not receive governmental funding nor engage in fundraising initiatives.
All care and training activities take place on site. The veterinary services are conducted by our preferred veterinary center. All DNA tests are conducted by Embark Lab, in San Diego, CA, US. All our rescue dogs benefit of premium quality food, including Blackhawk Lamb and Dr. Hill prescription diets, supplemented by additional nourishment for undernourished dogs or those with specific health concerns. Each rescue dog is subjected to microchipping, registration with the NZ Companion Animal database, and, when necessary, desexing, vaccinations, deworming, flea treatments, mange management, whelping assistance, DNA testing for breed and genetic health conditions and support for physical rehabilitation. We offer training on-site for adult dogs and puppies pet domestic manners for all our rescue dogs. Our proficient JDC K9 teams assist us in facilitating dog to dog socialization and dog-to-dog polite interaction training.
Once a rescued dog is prepared for adoption, we make every effort to rehome it to the most suitable family throughout New Zealand. Some dogs may remain in our care for several weeks, while others may stay for months. All dogs we rescue are microchipped in our name and have an adoption contract with specific clauses, and we retain the right to reclaim any dog from an unsuitable home at any time.
Donations in the amount of 290 NZD per dog are provided by adopting families at the time of adoption, intended to offset a portion of the veterinary and supply expenses incurred during the dogs’ time in our care, thereby enabling us to sustain our rescue efforts. Additionally, we welcome voluntary contributions from supporters of our rescue dogs.
As we have no bureaucratic structure and we perform the rescue, care, training and rehoming activity ourselves on our own premises without employees and contractors, we can confidently guarantee that each dollar is spent directly on the dogs in our care.
