This is a challenging post to write, and it may be difficult to read. We are in tears, and it’s so the wrong time for us, but WE HAVE TO SHARE.
We are just establishing our new space with basically no resources. We received an urgent emergency call, and we were reluctant…. but then we saw her! And our hearts shattered straight away. The photos speak for themselves… Bia can’t tell us what happened to her. Her body and her eyes tell her story. This is how hell looks like.
Bia will not stand. She lays on the ground pleading for mercy. She will dare look at you just for a fraction of a second, enough to see her gorgeous chestnut eyes. And the fear, and kindness, and the plea in those eyes. She is skin and bone. It absolutely broke us.
She was found in a hole she dug under a house where she dragged herself with catastrophic injuries inflicted either by human hands or a vehicle. She was very quiet and barely moved so it took a long time for someone to spot her. She was very sick with parvo, very badly injured, and in a tremendous pain while lying there, half buried, unable to walk and all alone, for God knows how long!
A man with a heart of gold found and rescued Bia from beneath the house and rushed her to a local vet after-hours for emergency evaluations, despite a very significant expense (which he paid from his own pocket). She hugged him closely all the way to the vet.
The vet confirmed she went through parvo (now clear), she is almost 1 year old, and she had multiple external wounds and her front legs broken (they healed…) and a dislocated back hip – which is still dislocated. These are around 2 months old historical injuries. The good news is that Bia has no damage to her growth plates and has a chance at a full recovery with surgery. Thankfully, no other internal injuries were found.
Although Bia is literally skin and bones, she is eating well, and she has an incredible will to live. We booked her for further X-rays and ultrasounds, which won’t be cheap and she will definitely need hip surgery. She has a soft bed and plenty of love – but for her to have a future we absolutely need your help with the veterinary cost. We are currently waiting for the x rays, ultrasounds and surgery estimation costs from the clinic.
We HAVE to help Bia – PLEASE help us help her see that this life is much more than pain and loneliness!
