Join Us at Our Beautiful Dog Rescue Sanctuary

As many of you know, we’ve secured and received consent for an expanded, beautiful JDC Sanctuary with 20 hectares of pristine land, with easy access about an hour from our previous location!

Our new location offers a magnificent blend of varied terrain, a riverside, and even a dedicated swimming area for the dogs, providing experiences unmatched by any other. All our kennels and rescues have already been moved to this new haven, as we complete the relocation of our assets from Poroporo.

Our new NI BOP sanctuary is open to intakes (subject to occupancy), as we are in ongoing consent discussions for a South Island sanctuary to extend capacity. Our goal is to maintain occupancy levels that ensure each dog receives the one-to-one time, attention and individual accommodation they deserve. Due to terrain specifics and abundance of wildlife, the walks will be on long leads only.

We welcome volunteers, fosters, collaborators, friends, and rescue members to our growing family that has already changed so many lives and is aiming for many more to come! We especially welcome new volunteers who are eager to enjoy nature with our rescues on relaxed, individual bush and river walks on long lead. Our rescues on site range from small and medium-sized dogs to large, energetic pups. The dog chosen for a walk will be matched to the volunteer’s preference and physical ability to walk them safely.

If you love the outdoors and are keen to spend some time with a lovely dog in a stunning place, please contact us ref. WALKS and we will discuss details!

If you can’t join us for the walks but can help with setup tasks like kennels cleaning, ground maintenance, mowing, trimming, fencing, or other handy work, please let us know—we’d be so grateful for any helping hand!
